Alicante is situated about 7 miles northeast of Alicante Airport.

The Castle of Santa Barbara is is the most notable feature of Alicante, sitting high above the town.

There are a number of museums in Alicante such as the Archaeological Museum of Alicante for history of the region, with artifacts from 100,000 years back until present day. This museum won the European Museum of the Year award in 2004.


The Alicante climate makes this a popular resort year round. There are long golden sand beaches here, as well as small secluded bays, also a naturist beach.

Beach fun includes wind surfing, water ski-ing; jet ski-ing; paragliding; scuba diving, boat rides, surfing, yachting, kayaking, and fishing.

One of the most popular beaches in Spain is situated 5 miles north Alicante named Playa San Juan. This beach is 4 miles long with many seafront bars and restaurants. This beach can be reached by car, many buses or trains from Alicante.

Alicante Port was once the main port for the region. The port today contains many private yachts with cafes & restaurants in that area.

The Port is situated in the centre of Alicante, next to the main shopping streets of Paseo de Canalejas and Explanada de Espana.

Tour boats depart from the port with the most popular tour being to the Isla de Tabarca, 11 miles off shore.

Benidorm is situated 37 miles northeast of Alicante Airport.

Benidorm is one of the largest resorts in Spain with entertainment to suit people of all ages. Here you will find four large Theme Parks, a Casino, many Cabaret Bars, Discos, Hotels with live acts and a wide variety of Water Sports. The town also has relaxing parks and a long promenade for walks.

The two main beaches are Poniente and Levante with long stretches of fine, golden sand. Both beaches regularly receive the European Blue Flag award.

You can take Boat Trips from Benidrom including a sub aquatic catamaran trip to Benidorm Island, just over 1 mile off the coast.

Altea is situated about 44 miles north of Alicante Airport.

Altea is a scenic, quieter resort with palm tree lined esplanade and a medieval old town with cobbled streets. More suited for tourists interested in Spanish culture than nightlife.

Torrevieja is situated about 38 miles south of Alicante Airport.

This is a popular Spanish Resort Town with British tourists with some good beaches and a popular street market every Friday morning. Torrevieja also has good shopping, bars and restaurants.

Torrevieja Beaches, six in all, offer a number of beach activities such as wind surfing, water skiing, jet skiing, paragliding, scuba diving, sailing and boat tours. Some of these activities are seasonal though.

Santa Pola is situated about 8 miles south of Alicante Airport.

This is a Resort Town with good beaches, marina, fishing port, 16th century castle and ancient Roman Ruins.

You can take boat trips from the marina to Tabarca Island.

This is another resort more for beach and culture rather than beach and nightlife.
