Where: An Teallach from Dundonnell in
northwest Scotland, 58 miles northwest of
Inverness.
Height: 1,062m / 3,486ft.
The Car Park for An Teallach is about
300 yards east of the Dundonnell Hotel,
with the start of the trail 100 yards east
of the car park at two cottages seen
here.

The image below is of the An Teallach
trail starting by going through gorse
bushes then over a real narrow burn, with
it being steep down to the burn.
The trail then goes up steady via a man
made path, then soon hits a steep man made
path.

The image below is from about 200ft
where the trail splits in two, the one to
the left is the Valley Trail, nice and
steady most of the way, but soggy in places
during a wet spell.
The High Trail is dryer but you have to
go up this steep section past the rocky
point up there. This section is also known
as the Zig Zags as it winds its way up via
a good man made trail.

The image below is after skirting past
the rocky point, then following a number of
small cairns till you see this long trail
up to the first Munro on An Teallach.
You can see the Valley Trail over to the
left, probably a faster route up, and you
will use less energy if it is dry. Both
trails merge up the top here.

The image below is of An Teallach two
Munros, Bidean a' Ghlas Thuill 1062m /
3,484ft, and Sgurr Fiona 1058m /3,473ft on
the right.
This diagonal trail up Ghlas Thuill has
two real steep sections with loose rock.
There is a faint trail that goes up steady
all the way avoiding the steep sections.
This is a fairly safe mountain.

The image below is from the summit of
Bidean a' Ghlas Thuill looking over to
Sgùrr Fiona at 1058m /3,473ft.
The trail across is fairly safe then
there is an exposed scramble straight up
the north ridge, or you can follow the
trail round to the right then up the safer
west ridge.
The pinnacle next to Sgùrr Fiona is
Lord Berkeley's Seat that has a faily safe
scramble up and back down, but is real
dangerous to go along the top towards the
three pinnacles, so most people follow the
trail around the side of it.
The top of Lord Berkeley's Seat is said
to be a real test of nerve as is right over
a very high drop.
The three pinnacles are also dangerous
with a trail round the side of them.
Most people that go along the top of the
pinnacles are climbers with ropes.

The image below shows the trail running
down off the east side of An Teallach, said
to be fairly safe after you pass the
pinnacles.
The trail then runs down to a cart track
that runs left to the east side car park,
it is then a two and a half mile walk round
the main road with no roadside path to the
north side car park at Dundonnell.
Some people use two cars to avoid the
roadside walk.
This is a long hike of about 12 miles /
20 km with a fair amount of danger,
normally only hiked by people with a fair
amount of experience, and real fit.
