1800s - most of the people visiting the
Gorge were wealthy, invited to the Braemore
Estate, with a Bridge built over the Falls to
impress them.
1945 - the National Trust for Scotland was
gifted Corrieshalloch Gorge by the Braemore
Estate's owner, John Calder.
2012 - the Bridge over the Falls was
repaired after cracks were noticed on the metal
supports, only 6 people are now meant to cross
at the same time.
2023 - the new £3 million Visitor
Centre opened, and a Viewing Platform was built
a short walk down from the high Waterfalls.
Corrieshalloch Gorge is in the Braemore
Estate, purchased in 1865 by the famous civil
engineer Sir John Fowler, who desiged the
London Underground, and created the Forth Rail
Bridge with Sir Benjamin Baker.
A Shooting Lodge built around 1840 on the
Estate was enlarged for Sir John Fowler into a
Scottish Baronial Mansion, demolished in the
late 1960s due to high maintenance costs.
The Estate is now ran from a Lodge built in
1994.
