Cairngorm
10 miles southeast of Aviemore,
126 miles north of Edinburgh. Cairngorm
is 4,084 ft, sixth highest mountain in
the UK. Scotland's top ski resort opened
here in the 1960s and the Cairngorm Mountain Railway
opened in 2001. The top station has a
Visitor Centre and Restaurant with great
views. The top Ptarmigan Station is at
about 3,599 ft. Regular trains and buses
run to Aviemore from all over the UK.

Nevis
Range
5 miles east of Fort
William, 107 miles northwest of
Glasgow. The Nevis Range is on Aonach Mor
mountain, just north of Ben Nevis. The
range caters for almost every type of
snow sport with the website giving a list
of prices and information on lessons.
There are 12 lifts including a gondola,
mountain restaurant and much more.
Regular buses and trains run to Fort
William from all over the UK. Regular
buses run between Fort William and the

Glencoe Mountain
Resort
80 miles northwest of Glasgow, 13 miles
east of Glencoe village. In winter,
skiing, snowboarding, sledging and
avalanche rescue training can be taken.
In summer, sports catered for are
mountain biking, archery, orienteering,
hill walking, climbing, chairlift rides,
photography, guided walks and home cooked
food is served in the log cabin cafe. The
resort has accommodation such as Glamping
Pods and there are a number of hotels in
Glencoe & Ballachulish 13 miles west.
The Kingshouse
Hotel is 2 miles from the resort and
the Bridge of
Orchy Hotel is 12 miles southeast of
the resort. Regular buses between Glasgow
