Edinburgh, 3 miles northwest of
North
Berwick.
Yellowcraig Beach is one of the top Beaches
in the southeast of Scotland.

Beach, just under half of a mile Walk.
The Beach has good deep sand that runs for
miles.
The Island of Fidra is a short
distance off the Coast, now a Nature
Reserve.
1156 - a Chapel was built on the Island,
dedicated to St Nicholas.
1100s - the Island became part of the Barony
of Dirleton, granted to John de Vaux by King
David I.
1220 - the de Vaux family built Castle Tarbet
on the Island.
1220s - William de Vaux gifted Fidra to the
Monks of Dryburgh Abbey 42 miles south.
1200s - Dirleton Castle
was then built on the Mainland for the the de
Vaux family, about 1 mile south of Yellowcraig
Beach.
1600s? - Castle Tarbet and the Chapel were
in Ruin.
1600s - Dirleton Castle was abandoned.
