northwest/ June 2nd week. Often attract
over 10,000 visitors, a great Scottish
day out for family, tourists, sports
people, and funseekers. Held at
Milngavie 7 miles north of Glasgow.

Shotts Highland
Games 22 miles east of Glasgow/
June 1st week. Around forty pipe bands
play for the West of Scotland
Championship, and over 100 dancers
compete in the Highland Dancing for
five age groups. Situated between
Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Airth Highland
Games 26 miles northeast of
Glasgow/ July 4th week. . Started about
1871, with legendary tales stating the
games were played by Prince James's
rebel soldiers camping in Airth in
1488, before the battle of
Sauchieburn.

Loch Lomond
Highland Games 27 miles
northwest/ July 2nd week. Began in July
1967 by a group of local businessmen to
promote the area for local people and
tourists alike. Now one of the top
Highland games in the country, with
approximately 10-15,000 visitors each
year at the village of Balloch.

Highland Games 28 miles east of
Glasgow/ May 4th week. The Games takes
place in Meadow Park, Bathgate since
1973. The games cover a pipe band
contest, solo piping competition,
highland dancing, hill race and heavy
athletics.

Castle in Ayrshire, Pipe Band Contest,
Solo Piping, March, Strathspey and
Reel, Highland Dancing and Heavy

Bridge of Allan
Highland Games 32 miles north of
Glasgow/ August 1st week. One of
Scotland's premier Highland Games with
crowds of between 10,000 and 15,000.
The games field is situated between
Stirling Castle, The Ochil Hills and
the Wallace Monument.

Gathering 34 miles west of
Glasgow/August 4th week. One of the
largest and most spectacular Highland
gatherings in the world with more than
3,500 competitors, many from
Communities throughout Canada, USA,
Australia, New Zealand and South
Africa. The event regularly attracts
over 20,000 spectators.
